Get your feet winter ready??

Everyone always prepares feet for the summer months, making sure their toes are nicely painted and soles are rid of hard skin! After having our feet wrapped up in boots all winter, treating our feet to a nice pedicure is definitely a treat. BUT did you know that our feet are actually in worse condition after the summer months??

Think about the type of footwear we wear in the summer, usually flip flops or sandles etc - not very good for our feet, even though they look pretty! There is pretty much no support in these and they leave our feet sore! Our feet are trying to protect themselves and hard skin starts to build up! So really we should be treating our feet all year round but if we are going to only do it once, do it as the end of summer!

Why not give yourself a pedicure at home? It is easy to do and a lot cheaper then going to a salon!

Here are some tips for DIY pedicures!

  • Take off any nail polish on your nails and GENTLY file them. Try refrain from nail clippers unless they very long!

  • Soak your feet in hot water. I love the water to be scorching but you keep it at a temp you are comfortable with. Add some bubble bath to give your feet and the water a nice scent! Leave your feet soaking for as long as you like! The longer the better because you are softening the cuticles and the hard skin!

  • Get some exfoliator and give your feet a scrub paying attention to areas of hard dry skin! Using a foot file, gently file away any more of the hard skin. Be very careful not to over do it though!

  • Apply moisturiser all over your feet and up onto your legs! If you want to paint your nails again do so here!

Thats it - new feet!! It really is that simple!  Your feet will be recovered from the summer months!
